It's all about Meme

The Circus has a big weekend coming up, and I'm in the throes of getting stuff done and ready for that... in place of a "real" entry, I give you this meme Annejelynn tagged me with:

The Instructions: List five songs that you're currently diggin' on - it doesn't matter what genre they're from, whether they have words or not, nor do they have to be any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions and the five songs including artist names on your blog. Then tag five people to see what they're listening to...

1. Come Away with Me - Norah Jones

2. I Am An Illusion - Rob Thomas

3. Something To Be - Rob Thomas

4. Home - Michael Buble

5. You Don't Know Me - Michael Buble

I've been diggin' on Rob Thomas (and a bit of Tim McGraw, and Big and Rich) during my commute to and from work every day.

During work, I've been diggin' on Michael Buble.

At home, mostly I've been diggin' on Norah Jones.

I knew Bloggy would love my music choices (and probably schedule some sort of intervention for me).

Hey... all that music and not a Barry Manilow song in the bunch!

Sadly, no comment on this one. Being that I am so hard of hearing that music carries no message precludes me from this one.

Ah, but the tunes in my head are still there.

Hey Jude
Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring (often miscalled Ode To Joy)
Cool Water
I'm A Ding Dong Daddy From Dumas
Ragtime Cowboy Joe
How Great Thou Art
One Day At A Time
I Had A Dream Dear
Tumblin' Tumbleweeds

And many others

LOVE the Buble. Love his cover of Summer Wind.

Happy Friday to you, my love!

I have to say--I like those two artists, BUT, that song, Home, by Michael Buble, I really can't stand. I mean, really--this guy has been away from home for SOOO long and yet, he hasn't sent her ONE SINGLE LETTER! I mean, come on now--it doesn't MATTER that they don't say much--if he SENT them then she'd REPLY and ask QUESTIONS--and she would KNOW that he actually still cares and isn't off galavanting across Europe with however many bimbettes and dancing girls, living the high life, not even THINKING about her. Ya, sure, he writes a song, expecting that the 6 or more months of silence will all be fine after that. WRONG! HOW can she KNOW that he even still thinks of her? Hmmm?

Rant over.

You can continue now.

Happy Friday!

Oh--and as a subcomment to Brudder Doug--"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" was the wedding march that was played by acoustic guitar (by my brother Alex) at our wedding--it was lovely!

Come Away With Me is one of my all-time favorites. Norah Jones has one of those voices that just gets inside me. In fact, I think right this minute, I'll pop in the Norah Jones CD a most excellent blogging friend of mine sent me. :)

Ahhh...there, that's better.

LOVE the new look, CK! Sunflowers are my favorites. And Punkin's tagline makes me smile.

Happy Friday to you, my friend! And a wonderful three-day weekend! WOOHOO!

Effie, darlin' ... it's possible to love someone, be away for years ... and never write during that time. And it's a good thing that's true, or I wouldn't be here.

I love the Nora Jones song, too, but, like Buble, I find it's what I call "situational listening" ... wonderful for a quiet night under a quilt, but less ideal for long highway trips.

Since most of my music listening nowadays is on the road, I tend towards higher energy stuff, while still loving female vocalists. So try Amanda Marshall's "Everybody Has a Story" ... one of the best-rpduced albums you'll ever hear. Bonus - she's Canadian, and poised to join five other Canadian divas (hello, Shania, Alanis, Celine, Sarah, and Jann Arden) in their continued dominance of the American music industry. Our goils rawk.

Now, off to listen to some John Mayer. He's a pussy and a girlie man, but so am I.

Oh Nilbo, you just stole my heart for being nice to John Mayer. His song, "Wheel", is something I'm diggin' on pretty huge right now.

(Sorry Bloggy and Bone. I'm not aware of too many things, I know what I know, if you know what I mean. Edie and me, we're tight. So does that mean I can still hangout with the YPS!! crowd?)

Oh, CK!! You're here?? Hi!!
;) Gawd, I'm such a brat!

Norah Jones is always good but I couldn't tell you a single Michael Buble song if he were standing in front of me singing to me.

My current overplays:

Hysteria - Muse
The Jeep Song - Dresden Dolls
Only - NIN
Jetsetter - Morningwood
Shake that Ass - The Lovemakers

Doug - Those are some great songs.

Amy - Happy Weekend to you!

Effie - Hee!

Mr. B - I guess I haven't heard enough of Edie Brickell to know if I like her stuff.

LadyBug - I feel that way about Buble.

Bone - I haven't heard any of those songs. Ever. I think you're making them up.

Lushy - Hee!

Nilbo - Gawd, yes. You can't listen to soothing music if you're on the road. You like John Mayer? Wait... you? A pussy and a girlie man?! I find that hard to believe...

Eclectic - HI!
