She's got the answer

One night last week, the circus went out for a drive. We toured the countryside and wound up driving down a small two lane road that cut a massive cornfield in two. Hubby decided to turn around and go back the way we came, and in the process, he did a small bit of off-roading past the shoulder before returning to the road itself. Sweet Pea piped up: "Daddy, why are you doing that?" Hubby replied "We're going to let Punkin out here so she can pick some corn, but don't worry, we'll come back for her before it gets dark."

Of course, he was NOT going to do that, but it was amusing at the time.

Fast forward to this afternoon. The circus was on it's way to a family reunion out in Yorkville, IL. The radio in the Expedition is the kind where the song titles scroll across the screen when a song plays. From the back of the truck at one point, Punkin read out loud "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" Sweet Pea's answer was immediate and priceless: "Go. Daddy, pull over and let Punkin out. Punkin, go pick some corn."

Thankfully, Punkin took that in stride because Hubby and I were too busy laughing to say anything else.

I just love you for playing that song for your kids. Dizzle and I listened to Living Colour's cover of it last night in the car.

Now that's the kind of family outing that makes living a lot of fun.

Hope the littles had a blast through the festivities.

We used to tell my youngest sister she was adopted since her eye and hair color didn't match. YEARS of mental scarring I tell you.

(Of course we also used to make that joke that once Living Colour's "Time's Up" album was released, time really was up for them. hehe)

Hee! So totally a Dad thing ... the whole "Sending her off to pick corn."

I believe tormenting children helps them grow healthy and strong. Well, no ... probably not. But sometimes it's just too irresistible. And not like we don't earn the right ...

Mr. B - Shame on you...

Nilbo - You're right. Sometimes making fun with the kids is just too darned irresistible.

What? She claims not to remember us doing that as she turns her head and sheilds her eyes from view. Her whimpering is a sound of sibling bonding!
