About Dinner

"Mom, what are we having for dinner?"

"Pork chops, corn and stuffing."

"Well, I guess I'm not gonna have dessert tonight..."

I'm coming back for seconds so...no dessert for me either. Unless it's pudding.

I know what is liked at your house. Pork chops and corn is hard to beat and along with stuffing, who has room for dessert ?
Got gravy to go on the dressing Sis ?
And a cuppa coffee on the side with a tad of cream ?
Purty please - - - - - ?

Ah, yes ... this sounds like a child who has heard the words "Clean your plate or no dessert for you!" Reminds me of my brother, who once looked down at three brussels sprouts and said "Can I go get a book? I'm going to be sitting here all night."

Sharkey - I don't know about that. Not one of the kids actually ate their dinner.

Wordgirl - There's always room for pudding!

Brudder - There's always room for dessert. :)

Nilbo - You got it. At least they all finished their milk...

So do you and hubby have lots of leftovers?? My littlest guy won't touch corn -- on or off the cob -- with a ten foot pole. Strangest thing! I thought all kids liked corn, but I guess not. Even stranger? He loves asparagus.

Dang right!

People eat asparagus? Well I'll be damned.

Eclectic - Kids who eat vegetables at all are strange. ;)

MrPhred - Amen!

Bone - Not Circus people, I can guarantee that...

How funny! I wasn't sure if this meant dinner was so good that second helpings would prohibit even the thought of dessert, or that it meant that they would never get through that, and hence not be 'eligible' for dessert. After reading the comments, I am still at a loss! Especially since it reminds me of my younger brother who would eat NO vegetables when he was a kid... EXCEPT for corn!! That was the only veggie he deemed worth consideration.

Anyway, if it were yours truly... I would tuck into it all and probably not have room for dessert. Or... maybe just wait a couple of hours, LOL.

Ortizzle - She meant she couldn't eat dessert because she wasn't going to eat dinner. :)

As a kid, I used to "force" myself to eat as little dinner as I could get away with eating. Funny thing, though, I never had any problems eating my dessert. :)
