Tonight, I participate in the last event in the endurance marathon that is Punkin's birthday this year. I could call it "Black Friday", but that's being a little melodramatic, even though we have twice the regular number of kids under our roof.
Last Saturday was Punkin's family party. Her actual birthday was on Wednesday, and we took the kids to Rainforest Cafe, in spite of the threat of the first snowfall of the season. We had a good time at the restaurant, then walked the mall before heading home.
Today, the day after Turkey day, we spent time with party preps, then Aunt Shelley came over and came with the kids and I to the movies. We went to see "Enchanted" (it's FUNNY!), before hitting the grocery store. Once home, we made cupcakes and waited for our guests.
The squealing began almost immediately with the arrival of the first guest. Time passed, dinner and dessert were served, presents were opened and thus ended the scheduled portion of our event. The kids are now in "free play" mode and running amok.
Hubby has been working on finishing off the basement for the majority of the day. He came upstairs a time or two just to get his eardrums rattled. Once he was done in the basement for the day, it didn't take long for him to decide he wanted to go out for a drive... a nice, peaceful drive. I reminded him to come back home at some point tonight. Hubby took the boy clown with him. I don't expect them home anytime soon. I miss them already.
Oh wait... the entertainment portion of the evening is about to start. The party's theme is "High School Musical." We have the movie and we have the soundtracks and the girls have little plastic microphones from their party favor boxes. Kid karaoke. You know this is gonna be good.
The best thing about this last event (besides it being the LAST event until Buddy's birthday in a few weeks) is that it's still Friday night. I'll still have two whole days to recover.
